How did I get reviewed on Yelp? At least I got 5 stars!
This is the honestly the craziest story ever! Last Sunday me and group of 14 people (9 adults, 5 children and 1 baby)went to the Casa Margarita Restaurant in Orland Park. I called at noon and made a reservation for 4:30, hoping to leave the restaurant by 6ish since we had a lot of small kids with us. I had been to the restaurant numerous times, in fact we had our annual "Pre-Christmas Party" dinner there in December, and the food and the service that day were fabulous. Unfortunately on this afternoon, we experienced the worst service ever. The waiter was rude, disappeared for 10-15 minutes at a time, gave us a lot of attitude and then added a 18% gratuity to our bill so we couldn't even leave a small tip. The only highlight of the visit was the food, which was very good, but the service was attrocious! The worst part was that it took over 2 and half hours to eat dinner, mainly because we spent most of our time flagging down our waiter and serving ourselves.
The next day I decided to write a review about my experience, which can be seen on Yelp here: To my surprise I received an email from Yelp that said:
B.S. Review? Seriously? WTF?
I was shocked to find out that he basically reviewed "ME" on Yelp, and refuted everything I wrote. My favorite part of his review was that people were "chugging them down" and the part about him "not even supposed to give our straws for waters anyway." Really? I drink water in restaurants all the time and never was told I had about this "limitation on straws." Is this like how fast food places have started charging a quarter for additional sauces at "some locations" (yes McDonalds - I'm looking at you! We like our barbque sauce in this family and I will die first before I start paying extra for it!). He also wants to say how good of a waiter he was and how we were obnoxious, yet then he mentions how "somebody had already taken straws from God knows where." God did know where and I did too. The supply closet in the back room, which was locate right behind our table!! The last time I checked I was neither a restaurant or a business. I didn't even know you could review PEOPLE on Yelp! "Your Waiter I's" arrogance is appalling. I can't believe Casa Margarita would have approved this. I think he must have done this on his own. (At least I hope that is the case!).
The crazy thing about this whole thing was, I just figured I would post a review and then a Manager would post "We're sorry for this incident please accept our apology" blah blah blah. Nothing would come of it. I would feel better and then we'd go back to Casa Margarita in the summer and have forgotten all about it by then. But after this? I won't forget it! And I will never forget you "Waiter I." For the record, in case you are reading this "I," corn and flour tortillas do look different. Just thought I'd let you know! But maybe you thought we were too busy "chugging down our drinks" to notice!
NOTE: Soon after this incident the manager contacted me to apologize and mentioned that all of the offensive Yelp reviews had been removed. My review remains, and to this day I have not returned to Casa Margarita in Orland Park.
